A concert of Latin, Armenian, Kurdish, Turkish, Persian, Arabic and Georgian songs based on the musical score of Teatr ZAR’s second performance triptych, “Anamnesis”, which follows their first triptych, “Gospels of Childhood”. The company always develop the musical component of a piece before working on its staging, with the music becoming the the foundation for building a performance created in a process spanning a few years. As the musical material is usually shortened and cut to achieve the desired dramatic effect, the concert will offer the unique opportunity to listen to the entire music for all three parts of the triptych, including the third part, “Moirai”, which is now in rehearsal.

“The third part, which is still in development, is called “Moirai”. It will centre around the subject of Desaparecidos, forced disappearances without a trace, and the people, mostly women, that are left behind remembering their loved ones whose lives were cut short. (…) Compared to the pieces we made before, “Moirai” will be completely silent…”

In the concert, Teatr ZAR actors will sings songs of Latin confraternities. Performing alongside them will be musicians from various parts of the world and musical traditions: Aram Kerovpyan (France), the master singer of the Armenian cathedral in Paris; Fatma Emara (Egypt), singer and member of the group Mazaher that cultivate the tradition of Zār; Marjan Vahdat (Iran), performer of traditional Persian songs; Selda Őztűrk (Turkey), who sings traditional wedding songs, laments and religious songs; Murat İçlinalça (Turkey), the Armenian master singer of the Church of St George the Illuminator in Istanbul; and Dengbej Kazo (Turkey), a musician and singer who performs both popular Kurdish songs and his own compositions in the tradition of dengbejs (storytellers).
