Mertcan was born in Istanbul and graduated from Bilkent University in Ankara, Faculty of Music, Dramatic Arts and Theatre. He worked at the National Theatre in Ankara and Istanbul, where he appeared as an actor in more than 20 plays and dance performances. Mertcan lives now in Poland, where he has been working with Studio Matejka since 2016, taking part in the company’s projects and workshops and co-created Studio’s new project, “Angry Man”. He collaborated with Alkemisterna, ensemble led by Cecilia Lagerström based in Gothenburg (Suffering: On Our Perception of Pain, 2017).

He takes part in “Medeas. On Getting Across” and in “Anhelli. The Howl”.
